Who is Tim Williams?
Tim Williams, also known by his moniker "TIMFLIX," is a versatile creator whose career encompasses writing, producing, and directing across various media platforms, including film and television.
His body of work reflects a deep commitment to storytelling, often exploring compelling narratives through a unique creative lens.
Early Life and Inspiration
Williams' passion for storytelling was significantly influenced by the works of filmmakers like Spike Lee. At the age of 11, after watching "Do the Right Thing," he recognized the power of authentic storytelling in portraying real, raw Black experiences. This early exposure played a pivotal role in shaping his narrative style and dedication to impactful storytelling.
This sparked a longstanding journey in the creative industry.
20 Years of Creative Experience

In 2012, Tim Williams embarked on a seven-year journey in television, refining his skills in design and video production. He started by crafting station promo posters, developing a strong foundation in visual storytelling.
From there, he transitioned into producing news promos, where he developed a keen eye for composition and journalism. His expertise eventually led him to producing entertainment promos for WSOC-TV 9 and TV 64, crafting promotional content for both daytime and nighttime shows.
This hands-on experience in television not only honed his technical skills but also deepened his understanding of storytelling, journalism, and audience engagement —foundational elements that now shape his work in filmmaking and digital media.
Over 7 years of hands-on experience in TV production, and programming, with 1000+ hours of content created.
Syndication producer and liaison for major networks — including FOX, NBC, and Universal — working on shows like Family Feud, Meet the Browns, Court TV, and more.
Tim Williams’ Creative Philosophy
At the heart of Williams' creative philosophy is the belief that storytelling fosters connection and understanding. He aims to create narratives that go beyond entertainment, sparking thought and inspiring change. His work is rooted in authenticity, often drawing from real-life experiences and historical events to shape his storytelling.
Career and Notable Works
Throughout his career, Williams has been involved in various projects that showcase his multifaceted talents. His work spans multiple genres, reflecting a commitment to exploring diverse and compelling stories.
First Swing at a Feature Length Film
"Marked for Trade" is a 2019 crime thriller that marked Tim Williams' debut as a feature-length filmmaker. Self-funded and shot in Charlotte, North Carolina, the film centers on a flamboyant lawyer with a mysterious past who becomes deeply involved in investigating a young woman's untimely death.
Upon its release, "Marked for Trade" received mixed reviews. Some critics acknowledged the film's potential and the ambition behind its creation, while others pointed out areas where the production fell short. For instance, Film Threat noted that despite the film's low-budget constraints, it should be celebrated for its mere existence, emphasizing that lack of funds shouldn't deter storytelling.
A Rotten Tomatoes critic, Alan Ng, commented that Marked for Trade "feels unfinished and like any good song, there has to be an ending or a way to release the tension," giving it a score of 4 out of 10.
Despite the varied reception, Williams viewed the completion and distribution of "Marked for Trade" as a significant personal achievement. The project represented his commitment to bringing ideas from conception to reality, providing invaluable experience and lessons that would shape future endeavors in filmmaking.
Masterwork
One of his latest endeavors is the "Tim Williams Masterwork" series, a docuseries that follows original content created by Williams from script to screen. The series offers in-depth breakdowns of historical events, drama, crime, and suspense from his unique creative perspective. A current project within this series is "BOLD: Eric Mays vs. The City of Flint," which delves into the complexities of political and social dynamics in Flint, Michigan.
Masterwork isn’t about claiming my past projects were perfect or that I’m satisfied; it’s about recognizing the opportunity to develop something classic using those experiences.
